Driver Manager Position Summary:

The Driver Manager oversees all inbound and outbound fleet operations, including dispatch, check-ins, issue resolution, and driver support. This role is essential to ensuring service excellence, on-time deliveries, and strong driver relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned drivers
  • Monitor all freight from pickup to delivery (full, partial, and consolidated loads)
  • Track and recover dropped trailers across the U.S.
  • Maintain accurate Hot Sheet status updates on priority loads
  • Ensure drivers meet pickup/delivery instructions and compliance requirements
  • Manage driver hours-of-service (HOS) and ELD compliance
  • Coordinate driver home time requests and route planning
  • Work closely with Safety, Maintenance, and Planning departments
  • Perform shift turnover duties with 2nd and 3rd shift teams
  • Resolve operational and customer service issues quickly and effectively
  • Support driver retention by building strong, respectful relationships

What You Need:

  • Prior experience in fleet management, driver dispatch, or transportation logistics
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, freight movement, U.S. geography, and equipment types
  • Clear understanding of operating costs for trucks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Tech-savvy with experience using TMS or fleet software systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
